How To Smooth A Chipped Tooth

I chipped a tiny piece of my front tooth with a coffee mug yesterday and although it’s not very visible, I can feel the roughness. is there anything I can do to smooth it down, short of going to the dentist? It’s not bad enough for me to pay for the visit.

When I got my Invisalign braces, a few of my teeth had to be filed every so slightly so they would fit nicely next to the others. My dentist used special sanding strips that had very, VERY fine diamond dust on them. And he only gave it a couple of passes. I know this sounds kinda crude, but I don’t know if you can get anything that fine at a hardware store. The next time you go in for a teeth cleaning, have the hygenist check it out. She may be able to smooth it. If she feels the chip is something that needs more attention to it, she’ll let you know. You don’t want to compromise the enamel because that’s what protects your teeth from decay.
